    User Guide (English) Chapter one: Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of an M-Sound Axiom Series MIDI Controller. Designed for both studio and stage, Precept offers 25, 49, or 61 semi-weighted velocity-sensitive keys with aftertouch, and DirectLink. In one case installed and configured, DirectLink automatically maps Axiom faders, buttons, knobs, and Transport Controls to numerous functions in qualified versions of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs).

    Kensington® Lock Connector – This connector is compatible with standard laptop-style Kensington® security cables for theft protection. Expression Pedal Input – This socket accepts both "switch blazon" and standard expression pedals (non included) such as M-Audio EX-P for calculation expressive changes during performances. The Expression Pedal input is fully MIDI-assignable, and a unique MIDI CC can be assigned for each keyboard Zone, so that the message(s) sent are defined by the active Zone(s).

The available parameters are listed along the top edge of the keyboard, and accessed by pressing the Edit button. The LCD screen shows the numerical value of the parameter being edited.

    Assigning RPN/NRPN Letters to a Knob, Fader, Button, or Pedal Axiom transmits all three necessary MIDI CC messages for RPNs and NRPNs when a knob or fader is moved, or the Sustain Pedal or a push is pressed. The "Control Assign" setting allows assignment for control of the RPN Coarse (132) and RPN Fine (133), equally well as NRPN Coarse (134) and NRPN Fine (135) parameters.

    This function sets the range of notes used past a Zone. By default, all Zones span the entire length of the keyboard. On Precept 61 this default Range is from note C1 on the far left to C6 on the far right. However it is from C1 to C5 on Axiom 49, and C2 to C4 on Axiom 25.
